Waiting for the light….
Yes, I know it is a ‘flogged to death’ photography cliche (hence my using it twice!) but last Sunday night I was with a group of photographers on the edge of Malham Tarn hoping for a spectacular sunset. We waited and it really seemed that nothing very worthwhile was going to happen. Even the midges can’t have been that impressed as they seemed to only manage to swarm in small numbers (low rather than high millions)!
And then, at around 9.30pm, something DID happen! We were treated to some stunning colours, both in the sky AND across the tarn. All earlier indications were that nothing spectacular was in the offing. WRONG! We waited and were rewarded.
Moral? Wait til after the sun has gone down below the horizon or skyline. And then wait a bit longer.

How true is this!! Having gone out with the camera myself on a day OR evening come to that, with what most people say is dodgy weather, I, like you have waited….and waited…and have been treated with light that has been truly amazing.
It’s definitely worth waiting for if you want that special shot and just goes to show what you can achieve if you are patient enough.

Thanks Heidi. Sometimes the waiting can all come to nought, but when it doesn’t it is so worth it!
